About 100 protesters were detained in Sofia

Police eliminated tent camps, ensuring free passage through the streets of the Bulgarian capital.

During the night, police and gendarmerie cleaned the streets of Sofia from protesters and liquidated tent cities, ensuring free passage through the city streets. This was reported at a briefing on Thursday morning by Deputy Director of the Metropolitan Police Anton Zlatanov.

“What went on for many hours was a marathon of mass riots. Protests were organized in the city. Unfortunately, many people came to them, whose sole purpose was to provoke tension, try to break through the cordons, break into government buildings. We were put to the test and suffered when wounded policemen fell around us. Among them were officers with cut wounds, burns to the face and poisoning. On Wednesday morning alone, more than 100 policemen were injured, 15 of them were sent to hospitals”, –  Zlatanov said. He specified that the day before 35 people were detained during morning protests in Sofia, more than 60 of them were detained in the evening and night hours.

There are no data on the exact number of victims at the moment.
