Su-27 intercepted reconnaissance aircraft and bombardier near Russian borders

Russian Su-27 fighters intercepted several military aircraft from Western countries. This was reported by the National Center for Defense Management (NTSUO).

So, over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea, the military discovered three unidentified air targets moving towards the state border of Russia.

For their identification, the Su-27 of the air defense forces of the Baltic Fleet was lifted into the air.

“The crew of the Russian fighter identified the aerial targets as the US Air Force RC-135 strategic reconnaissance aircraft, the Swedish Air Force’s Gulf Stream reconnaissance aircraft and the Danish Air Force’s Challenger reconnaissance aircraft,” the statement said.

After the foreign aircraft turned away from the Russian border, the Su-27 returned to the airfield.

In addition, two Su-27s from the air defense on duty of the Southern Military District also had to be lifted into the air due to the fact that an air target approaching the state border was found over the neutral waters of the Black Sea.

The NTSUO stressed that the crews of the Russian fighters approached a safe distance and identified the object as the US Air Force B-52H strategic bomber.

After turning it away from the state border, the Russian planes returned safely to the home base.
Another aerial target over the neutral waters of the Black Sea, flying to the Russian border, the specially raised Su-27 was identified as the RC-135 of the US Air Force.

The department emphasized that in all cases, Russian fighters acted strictly in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace and did not allow border violations.
