U.S. authorities will send federal and National Guard forces to Kenosh, Wisconsin, to help local law enforcement in the midst of a spate of pogroms and protests there. This was stated by U.S. president Donald Trump.
Last Sunday, Kenosh police shot African-American Jacob Blake in the back as he tried to break up two women who were fighting. The policemen used a stun gun against him and then fired. The man was hospitalized in serious condition. The Wisconsin State Attorney General’s Office is investigating the incident. According to her, all law enforcement agencies involved in the incident are cooperating with the investigation. The emergency led to mass protests in the city, which turned into pogroms and clashes with police. The authorities declared a curfew and introduced more than 160 guards. On Wednesday, Kenoshi police reported two deaths from gunfire at night.
“We will not allow looting, arson, violence and lawlessness on American streets. My team just finished a phone call with Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers, who agreed to accept federal support. Today I will send federal law enforcement and the National Guard to Kenosh, Wisconsin, to restore law and order!” – Trump wrote on his Twitter.
