The Kremlin is sure that there is indirect and even direct external interference in the situation in Belarus, and is concerned about it, said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
“I will not concretize these forces, these countries. But we do state that indirect and even direct interference is taking place. We are concerned in this regard, and once again we are convinced that the problems in Belarus should be solved by Belarusians themselves through dialogue, remaining in the legal field”, – said Peskov.
Mass protest actions of the opposition started all over Belarus on August 9th, after the presidential elections, where the current Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko won for the sixth time – according to the CEC, he won 80.1% of the votes. The opposition believes that Svetlana Tikhanovskaya won the election, not Lukashenko. During the first days of the action the law enforcement officers suppressed the protesters, disagreeing with the results, using tear gas, water cannons, light-noise grenades and rubber bullets. Then the law enforcement bodies stopped disperse the rallies and used forceful methods. According to official data, more than 6.7 thousand people were detained in the first days. As the Interior Ministry reported, hundreds of people were injured in the riots, including more than 120 law enforcement officers, three protesters died.
