According to Gazeta.ru, in an interview with WirtschaftsWoche, the Prime Minister of the German federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Manuela Schwezig, said that Germany and the EU countries should make it clear to the United States that the threat of sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 project is unacceptable.

The prime minister also noted that Germany needs gas, which would be supplied via Nord Stream 2, to switch to the use of renewable energy sources. According to her, the only alternative would be expensive gas from the United States.
