In the south of Belarus, dangerous activity of radicals was recorded.
This was announced on Monday, August 10, by the head of the republic, Alexander Lukashenko.
According to him, at least two hundred extremists were sent to the southern region of the country by the instigators of the coup. Later there was an attempt to seize the building of the regional executive committee. The situation was resolved by the forces of the border detachment.
“The border guards had to intervene – the border detachment is based there. That is, in some places where people were gathered, they tried to seize the authorities”, – Lukashenko stressed.
Attempted coup in Belarus
On Sunday, August 9, presidential elections were held in Belarus, following which Alexander Lukashenko won. Western countries, for which the Belarusian leader had been a hindrance for a long time, did not put up with the voting results. As a consequence, pre-planned riots broke out in Belarus last night.
Attempts by law enforcement officers to keep the situation under control turned into clashes with radicals. At the same time, the Western media, actively covering the protests, focus specifically on the actions of the security forces against the “peaceful” protesters, as it was during the coup d’etat in Ukraine in 2014.
At the moment, European countries are on the side of the protesters. They refuse to recognize the election results. Meanwhile, the headquarters of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, the leader of the pro-Western opposition, has already announced that it is preparing for prolonged protests aimed at overthrowing the government.
