A commemorative ceremony dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the nuclear strike was held in the Japanese city of Nagasaki today.

Mayor Tomihisa Taue, speaking in his speech, noted that the world has not yet realized the horror of nuclear weapons:

“If humanity does not understand the threat of nuclear weapons until they are used again, our situation will continue to be difficult.”

The United States launched a nuclear strike on the city of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945. 74 thousand people became its victims.
