There was an explosion in the Afghan city of Puli Alam in Logar province. The car bomb killed eight people and injured about 30.
According to witnesses, a car packed with explosives exploded.
Earlier channel sources reported that a total of 40 people were killed and injured in the blast, but without specifying how many were killed.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the explosion and the Taliban have denied involvement in the attack.
Earlier, the Taliban and Kabul had agreed on a three-day ceasefire, starting on Friday.
