Today, the interaction between Moldova and the Eurasian Economic Union is a private business project, because not many in the country are well aware of such cooperation.
This was told by the head of the Center for Strategic Studies and Reforms Galina Shelar in a commentary to the publication Eurasia.expert.
According to her, the situation with citizen awareness is a problem in conditions when the Eurasian market and the Russian market, in particular, are extremely necessary for Moldovan entrepreneurs.
“Moldova is too little aware of the development of cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. The interaction between Moldova and the countries of the commonwealth is built on a bilateral basis, and for the most part we are talking about private business projects. And this is in conditions of how much the market of the EAEU and Russia is, above all, vital for the agricultural producers of Moldova, ”says the expert.
Shelar emphasizes that in the field of vegetable growing and fruit growing, the implementation of joint projects in accordance with the recommendations of the Eurasian Economic Commission would be of mutual interest.
At the same time, she criticized the position of the Moldovan authorities, who, although they talk about the possibilities to use the existing preferences in the interests of the republic, are not really doing it. In addition, the ideas of integration often distort, which “significantly slows down” the work in this direction.
