US and NATO conduct exercises in the North Atlantic

Dynamic Mongoose’s teachings on countering the Russian submarine fleet are more reminiscent of the “game of soldiers” than real military training.

As the authors of the “SVARSCHIKI” Telegram channel write, the US and NATO are currently conducting Dynamic Mongoose exercises to counter the Russian submarine fleet in the North Atlantic.

“In this regard, a number of NATO commanders expressed their preparations. The main point was that the deployment of Russian submarines in the Atlantic focused the alliance’s attention on strategically important waters between Greenland, Iceland and the UK”, – channel experts said.

According to this channel, Norwegian Minister of Defense Frank Bakke-Jensen said it’s crucial to ensure freedom of navigation and that sea links across the Atlantic are open, because in the event of a conflict with Russia, the rapid deployment of the US troops to protect European allies will be impossible. To this end, NATO is increasing its capabilities and training to monitor the activity of the Russian Navy. To do this, the United Kingdom ordered 9 new Boeing P-8A Poseidon planes, Norway made a commitment to buy 5 such planes, and the US Navy deployed its planes in Iceland.

“Last year, in October, NATO was already showing off in the same area, and in February-March 2020, it missed the mass exit of Russian nuclear submarines to the Atlantic, which followed to block military traffic from the US to Europe during the Defender Europe 2020 exercises. The absolute inaction of the NATO forces during the real exits of Russian submarines suggests that the ongoing alliance maneuvers in the Atlantic are exclusively ostentatious and episodic in nature, and the statements of the bloc’s commanders are populist”, – the channel’s experts summarized.
