Former Austrian Vice-Chancellor Heinz-Christian Strache again spoke out against anti-Russian sanctions.
In an interview, he emphasized that sanctions are the wrong way. These sanctions also damage the Austrian economy.
“We Europeans must cooperate with Russia. In addition, Russians are always waiting in Austria, ” Strache said. He also emphasized the cultural proximity between Europe and Russia.
Austrian expert, Secretary General of the Vienna Alexander Suvorov Institute, Patrick Poppel said that Strache was one of the few Austrian politicians who constantly insisted on a positive relationship with Russia.
“Regarding Strache’s candidacy and his movement, it can be stated that the topic of Russia is returning to politics. I think this is a very positive start. We should think about ending sanctions. Austria should be the first European country to start this,” Poppel said
