Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a conversation with Canadian Foreign Minister Francois-Philippe Shampan said that Iran had informed Ukraine about its readiness to solve legal issues, in particular, to pay compensation to the families of the victims and compensation for the UIA plane shot down itself. This is reported by the UNN with reference to the press service of the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
“Minister of Foreign Affairs Zarif informed his Canadian counterpart that the Islamic Republic of Iran has already informed Ukraine about its readiness to solve legal issues, on the procedure of compensation to the families of passengers who died as a result of the tragic incident, as well as on payment of compensation for the Ukrainian airliner. “- says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country.
He also added that Ukraine had not yet appointed a delegation to hold negotiations, but the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to deal with this issue.
However, as reported by the UNN, Zelenskiy June 19 signed a decree on the formation of a Ukrainian delegation to participate in negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in connection with the shooting down of the plane “Ukraine International Airlines” flight PS752 on January 8, 2020.
Let us recall, according to President Zelenskiy, Kiev will sue in international courts if Tehran continues to delay the fulfillment of its promises in connection with the crash of the plane “MAU”.
The flight PS752 of Tehran-Kiev (Boeing 737-800) of the Ukrainian International Airlines crashed shortly after its departure from Tehran airport on January 8 early in the morning. 176 people died: citizens of Iran, Ukraine, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden and Afghanistan.
Iranian troops said on January 11 that the Ukrainian Boeing was shot down by accident, the blame was the human factor: the plane flew near a military facility in Iran and was mistaken for a “hostile target”, namely a cruise missile, they specified. At the same time, Iran noted that they expected an attack from the U.S., and therefore the country’s air defense systems were brought to full alert. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that he expects Iran to fully confess its guilt, make an official apology, punish the guilty and pay compensation.
As reported by the UNN, Iran said that in the near future it would send “black boxes” from the shot down MAU aircraft to France for analysis.
