After shooting in Seattle, the practice of protests without police is canceled

The mayor of Seattle said the city plans to return to an area occupied by armed demonstrators after three people were shot dead over the weekend.

Mayor Jenny Durcan said that violence has become “increasingly formidable” for businesses and residents.

She said the city will work with protesters to end the so-called protest zone on Capitol Hill.

The downtown area was seized by protesters on June 8 after police retreated after violent clashes.
