The US Embassy in the Afghan capital has become a hotbed of coronavirus infection COVID-19.
This was reported by the press service of the US State Department.
The ministry does not specify how many employees of the diplomatic mission are infected. It is known that diplomats and contractors suffered.
According to the Associated Press, citing sources in Kabul, up to 20 people were infected with the coronavirus. Most are Nepalese Gurkhas, whom the State Department hired to guard the embassy.
“The embassy is taking all necessary measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,” the State Department said in a statement.
