In France, the war on monuments continues

In the West, anti-racist speeches accompanied by illegal actions and arson have not subsided. They have intensified after the murder of another African American who resisted arrest by police in the United States.

At the same time, the French authorities do not intend to remove monuments of historical figures from the pedestals. The Republic “will not erase any name” from its history, President Emmanuelle Macron said in a televised address to the nation on Sunday, 14 June. The Head of State thus responded to the ongoing protests against racism in many countries, including France.

The President assured that he would not compromise in the fight against racism, anti-Semitism and discrimination.
