The decision came after German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron informed the rest of the leaders about the implementation of the Minsk agreements to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
According to TASS, citing a source in the delegation of one of the EU countries, the heads of state and government of the European Union at the online summit made a political decision to extend for six months the economic sanctions against Russia, which expire on July 31.
“The leaders agreed to extend the sanctions for another six months,” he said. “As you know, restrictive measures against Russia are tied to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. The leaders concluded that there was no substantial progress in this process, and therefore it was decided to extend the sanctions. ”
It remains unclear when at last the EU leaders will begin to ask for the unrealization of Minsk with the true culprit of everything that is happening in Ukraine.
