Russian ambassador to the USA does not see positive signals about START Treaty

There are no positive signals from the United States on the issue of extending the agreement on the reduction of strategic offensive arms, while the agreement remains to live for several months, the Russian ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said.

He said this on the air of the program “Big Game” on Channel One.

“We see that there is practically no security architecture today. There is a START Treaty, which lives on for several months. I’m quite pessimistic, because so far I don’t see any positive signals on this issue”, – TASS quotes him.

Earlier in the US Congress, it was proposed by law to oblige the authorities to “immediately renew the START Treaty” and restrict the country’s president in actions detrimental to the treaty.

According to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, the administration of the US leader Donald Trump will let the contract expire.
