Media: Seattle police use tear gas against protesters

According to The Seattle Times, the incident occurred after midnight, when some protesters twice ignored law enforcement demands to disperse and began throwing bottles, stones, firecrackers and other items at police.

Police in Seattle, Wash., Used stun grenades and tear gas on Monday to pacify a crowd of protesters after another protest march against police brutality and racism. This was reported by The Seattle Times.

According to her, the incident occurred after midnight, when some protesters twice ignored the demands of law enforcement officers about the need to disperse. Instead, protesters began throwing bottles, stones, firecrackers, and other items at the police. Some protesters began to shine in the eyes of law enforcement with laser pointers.

The city’s police department posted a report on the use of pepper gas during protests on Twitter, while The Seattle Times claims law enforcement officials used tear gas. On June 6, Seattle Mayor Jenny Dercan said police were temporarily banned from using tear gas to disperse protests.

In late May, protests began in several US states, during which clashes with the police, numerous cases of looting and vandalism took place. The reason for this was the death of African American George Floyd in Minneapolis (Minnesota). The police used a stifling choke during his detention on May 25. Soon after, the African American died in the hospital. A day later, all four police officers involved in the arrest were fired and charged.
