In Brussels, protests turned into pogroms and riots

 

Protests over the death of African-American George Floyd in Minneapolis, USA have reached Belgium. Hundreds of people demonstrated in Brussels despite the restrictions imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Many participants had posters with slogans against racism. Local police had to intervene to disperse the demonstrators. The protests ended in clashes between protesters and the police.

George Floyd died in late May in Minneapolis after being detained by police. His death sparked a wave of protests not only in the US, but around the world. Earlier actions in solidarity were held in the UK, France, Greece and Spain.
