US organizations intervene in European politics to practice before elections

Large American organizations specializing in networking are experiencing a social impact strategy for Europeans before the US presidential election.

It is reported by the publication Politico.

According to media reports, we are talking about far-right structures, which back in 2016 played an important role in the victory of Donald Trump. Now they have “exported” their activities to the other side of the Atlantic in order to “conduct road trials of tactics for the 2020 US presidential race”.

However, this will not be the first time that the US intervenes in European politics through online resources. As noted in the publication, “American activists” regularly provoke online debates, create fake news sites and spread misinformation through social networks.

An example is the situation when British Prime Minister Boris Johnson published on Twitter the achievement of a deal with the European Union on Brexit. The publication began to be actively distributed even in the United States. Soon, the hashtags GetBrexitDone and TakeBackControl became popular here, despite the fact that the Americans were indifferent to Brexit, unlike the American administration interested in this.

Such processes were commented on by Chloe Colliver, head of the digital research unit at the London Institute for Strategic Dialogue. According to her, the American network propaganda structures “have little concern about what is happening in Europe”.

“They are more focused on using European elections for their own politics and political campaigns”, – she explains.

So, on the eve of the European Parliament elections held a year ago, there was a lot of indignation in Europe regarding the intervention of the American side, the article says. Now online provocateurs are actively using the topic of the health crisis, undermining national governments. However, the main test ahead of them is the US presidential election.
