Georgian priest demands an end to the pro-Western course through a referendum

Georgia needs to rethink its Euro-Atlantic course, which is leading it through the path of hatred.

Such a statement, according to the Georgian edition of News Front, was made by the Archbishop of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony of Van and Baghdat.

He sharply criticized pro-Western non-governmental organizations and the media that operate in Georgia and discredit the church, receiving funding from European and American sponsors for this.

Anthony admitted that the clergy is becoming increasingly ashamed of the so-called “European values”, which “can no longer respond to the Russian narrative”.

“And then you are surprised at the demonization of Europe and America by the church”, – the clergyman said, stressing that Georgia needs to revise the dubious Euro-Atlantic course aimed at “insulting, discrediting and educating the future generation with a sense of disgust for the church”.

The metropolitan noted that people should distance themselves from such “values”. In addition, he called for a referendum to determine whether the Georgian population “wants to live with values where the church is hated, where family traditions and holiness are neglected?”
