The Russian Embassy in the United States on Monday recommended the head of the State Department’s press service, Morgan Ortegus, to deepen his knowledge of Russian history in order to avoid further statements based on inaccurate information.
“We will be happy to help the respected State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortegus improve her knowledge of Russian history. This can prevent statements based on false narratives and unsuccessful slogans, as well as speculations regarding the tragic periods of the Soviet past, ” the embassy reports to TASS.
“In 1954, Crimea was transferred from the RSFSR to the Ukrainian SSR, people were not asked about this. In 2014, the multinational people of Crimea in a referendum decided to no longer be part of Ukraine due to an unconstitutional nationalist coup in Kiev and violent banderization supported by Washington, ” the diplomatic mission added.
In the event that Ortegus trusts exclusively Western experts, the Russian diplomatic mission invited her to turn to material published in the American journal Foreign Affers.

On Monday, Ortegus, on the occasion of the anniversary of the deportation of Crimean Tatars, posted on her Twitter page a call to Russia “to stop hurting the Crimean Tatars and Ukrainians living in Crimea and immediately regain full control of the Ukrainian peninsula.”
