US Special Representative for Syria James Jeffrey in an interview with one Arab newspaper said that all foreign states, including Turkey, Iran and the United States, but with the exception of Russia, should leave Syria.
In the same interview, Jeffrey called Idlib “the stronghold of the opposition,” adding that in the near future Damascus would not be able to establish its control in this city.
But there is a silver lining – the diplomat is ambiguous, and most importantly he spoke inconspicuously about the relations between Moscow and Damascus. Whatever that means, he said: “The recent Russian media campaign against Damascus suggests that Moscow is well aware of“ what kind of ally Syria is. ” The incomprehensible statement by the special representative does not find confirmation in the Russian media.
