Rowhani: The U.S. realized it was a mistake to get out of a nuclear deal

Now there is no “neither way back nor way forward”, says the President of the Islamic Republic.

The United States realized that it had made the mistake of withdrawing from the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan for Iran’s nuclear programme. President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rowhani said on Wednesday.

“They realized they’d made a big mistake getting out of the nuclear deal. There’s no going back or forward now”, –  he said. The president’s speech was broadcast by the state television of Iran.

According to him, “if someone wants the arms embargo against Iran to be restored, Tehran will respond in the way described in the letter of the Iranian President addressed to the leaders of the “4+1” countries (Russia, China, France, Great Britain and Germany). “Iran’s reaction will have serious consequences”, –  the politician said.

He added that “the decision to unilaterally withdraw from the nuclear deal was very stupid”. “For two years now, the U.S. has not achieved anything in this direction”, –  Rowhani said.

April 26 The New York Times reported that the U.S. intends to try to get the UN Security Council to adopt a draft resolution providing for the maintenance of an arms embargo against the Islamic Republic on the basis of the JCPOA. In accordance with the provisions of this document, which was signed by the permanent “five” UN Security Council and Germany with Iran in 2015, Tehran from October will be able to acquire weapons and military equipment from foreign suppliers.
