DPR says security forces violate ceasefire almost 400 times in April

Ukrainian security officials violated the ceasefire in the Donbass almost 400 times in April, Eduard Basurin, deputy chief of the People’s Militia of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, told the reporters on Friday.

“In April, 377 facts of ceasefire violations were recorded, 164 of them with the use of heavy weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements”, – Basurin said.

He noted that the enemy continues to deploy military equipment on the territory of civilian infrastructure in the territory controlled by Kiev. In order to hide the equipment located near the line of contact, the Ukrainian security forces create “obstacles to the work of the unmanned aerial vehicles of the OSCE SMM”.

In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR, which declared independence after the coup in Ukraine in February 2014. According to the latest UN data, about 13 thousand people became victims of the conflict.

The issue of resolving the situation in the Donbass is being discussed, including those during the meetings in Minsk of the contact group, which since September 2014 has already adopted three documents regulating steps to de-escalate the conflict. However, even after armistice agreements between the parties to the conflict were adopted, skirmishes continue.
