Coronavirus will hurt the Ukrainian economy: NBU made a disappointing forecast

Pandemic will finish the Ukrainian economy. The National Bank in the Inflation Report said in the second quarter of this year, GDP will fall by 11%.

“Quarantine measures have already reduced business activity, consumption and employment. Reducing global demand also limits the country’s export opportunities. The impact of these factors on the economy will significantly affect during the second quarter of this year (GDP will decrease by 11% y / y)”, – the document says.

At the same time, the NBU is optimistic that the economy will begin to recover after the pandemic. But for some reason, in the case of Ukraine, little is believed in this.
