The Serbian government did not impose restrictions for the coming weekend as previously planned.
The relevant decision was taken on Thursday, 30 April.
However, the authorities imposed a curfew from 18:00 on Thursday to 17:00 on Saturday.
Dr. Vesna Dobuja said in a comment to Reuters that the number of patients in Belgrade’s medical complex Zvezda, which was turned into a COVID-19 clinic, has been halved compared to previous weeks.
“Given what we’ve been through, we’re a little afraid of mitigation”, – she admitted.
According to the government plans, catering facilities in Serbia will open as early as next week. Public transport will be resumed in Belgrade on May 8, and kindergartens will open on May 11.
As of today, there are 8.7 thousand infected with COVID-19, almost 1.3 thousand recovering and 173 deaths in Serbia.
As News Front reported earlier, in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, Serbia tried to ask for help from the European Union, but could not even buy the necessary medical equipment there because of the ban on exports.
When Belgrade sent the request to Moscow, Russia sent 11 planes to Serbia, bringing eight medical teams, radiation, chemical and biological protection specialists, disinfection equipment, as well as medical drugs and equipment.
