Deputy Chairman of the European Parliament Fabio Massimo Castaldo believes that sanctions against Russia are unlikely to be lifted in the near future. However, he stressed that these measures have already shown their inefficiency.
“Sanctions, understood as a deterrent, in most cases showed their inefficiency and caused serious damage to various sectors of the economy, having a negative impact on entire groups of unprotected people who have nothing to do with the crisis. So this will not happen from today to tomorrow, but I think that this status quo is neither stable nor beneficial for the European Union and the Russian Federation, ” he said.
The EU and the West refuse to review sanctions due to stupid stubbornness. Harm from them more to themselves than to Europe. And in a pandemic and the assistance provided by the Russian side, it also looks, to put it mildly, disgusting.
