Foreign Ministers of Russia, Turkey and Iran discuss situation in the Middle East

The foreign ministers of the Russian Federation, Turkey and Iran – the guarantor countries of the Syrian settlement – discussed via teleconference the situation in Syrian Idlib, east of the Euphrates and the coronavirus pandemic, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.

The ministerial meeting of the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of Russia, Iran and Turkey Sergey Lavrov, Mohammad Javad Zarif and Mevlut Cavusoglu in the “Astana” format for Syria was held online for the first time in three years of its existence due to restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic.

“The seventh meeting of the foreign ministers of guarantor countries of the Astana process was held via videoconference. The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the context of Syria was discussed. Recent events, especially in Idlib and east of the Euphrates, political process, humanitarian situation and the return of refugees were analyzed”, – said Cavusoglu on Twitter.
