SAR Ministry of Health receives humanitarian aid and protection for medical personnel from Russia to fight COVID-19

The first batch included 50 ventilators, about 10 thousand tests to detect infections, 2 thousand protective suits for repeated and single use. The second batch will arrive on the twenties of this month and will include 150 ventilators.

Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Damascus Alexander Yefimov said that the assistance is being provided to support the Syrian medical system, which suffered during the nine years of war, confirming the need to increase medical equipment, including IRS machines and tests.

Yefimov noted that the illegal coercive measures imposed by Western countries on Syria have a negative impact on its ability to withstand the epidemic.

Deputy Minister of Health of the SAR Ahmad Khlefawi indicated that Russian aid will support the capacity of the Syrian health sector to fight the coronavirus. He stressed that the precautions taken by the Syrian government had helped curb the spread of the epidemic in the country. Syria counts on the cooperation and assistance of friendly countries headed by Russia to fight the pandemic.
