Hong Kong authorities have renewed their ban on foreigners

Cheque Lap Kok International Airport will still not serve transit passengers.

The Hong Kong authorities have extended the ban on entry to persons who do not live in this special administrative region of China. This was reported in the South China Morning Post on Tuesday.

The ban was introduced on 25 March for a period of two weeks to prevent the entry of coronavirus infections. It will remain in force until further notice. Cheque Lap Kok International Airport will still not serve transit passengers.

According to recent data, the number of cases of new coronavirus infections in Hong Kong has reached 914 with four fatal outcomes. However, 75 per cent of infections in the last two weeks are of an imported nature.

Due to the epidemiological threat, tourist, cultural, sports and entertainment facilities and all bars have been closed, and mass events, classes and examinations in schools have been cancelled.

Since the end of March, the Hong Kong Government has strengthened measures to ensure social distancing by prohibiting groups of more than four people from gathering.
