Germany confirms 62 thousand COVID-19 cases per day

The number of cases of coronavirus in Germany per day increased to 4,400 and amounted to 62,435, a total of 541 people died from the infection, 9,211 people recovered, TV channel N24 reported on Monday.

Earlier, the Robert Koch Institute, which officially maintains statistics on the incidence rate in the country, reported an increase in the number of patients by 4751 per day, a total of 57298 people. The total number of victims is 455.

Thus, the dynamics of the incidence, according to both the official structure and the media, so far complies with plans to slow the spread of COVID-19, the optimal rate of which, according to the expert community and the German authorities, should double the number of cases no earlier than once every ten days.

The Robert Koch Institute, which is part of the Ministry of Health, maintains statistics on the incidence rate in the country, but its data are published once a day and differ from the data of the media, which count. The leadership of the Institute previously stated that it was aware of the discrepancies in the data, and explained this by a “temporary lag” and the need to consolidate official reports of regional departments.

The World Health Organization on March 11 announced an outbreak of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19 with a pandemic. According to the latest WHO data, more than 634 thousand cases of infection have been recorded in the world, almost 30 thousand people have died.
