In the Netherlands, the trial of four persons involved in the case of the downing of an aircraft over the Donbass in 2014 began.
Dutch prosecutors will indict suspects in the MH17 case on two counts. This is stated in the message of the department on Monday, March 9.
“Four suspects will be charged on the following points: the elimination of flight MH17, which resulted in the deaths of all people on board, punishable under Section 168 of the Dutch Penal Code, and the killing of 298 people on board flight MH17, punishable in accordance with with the 289th article of the Dutch penal code”, – the report said.
The full text of the indictment will be published after the prosecutors read it in the courtroom.
During the first court hearing in the case, presiding judge Hendrik Steinhuis said that not one of the defendants appeared in court.
As you know, the defendants in the case are Russians Igor Girkin, Sergey Dubinsky, Oleg Pulatov and Ukrainian Leonid Kharchenko.
“At the first session, it is supposed to determine the current state of the matter. We will see representatives of the defense, we will also evaluate how much the matter is to consider it in essence”, – said Steinhaus.
According to him, legal advisers and the prosecutor’s office should also present their position in court.
“In this case, the presiding judge decided to set up a special meeting dedicated to this issue precisely in the continuation of this session”, – he added.
Steinhaus also said that 84 applications were filed with the court for financial compensation.
During the hearing, 49 relatives of the victims are scheduled to speak.
As you know, in the crash of Boeing-777 of flight MH17 over Donbass 298 people died, 196 of whom were citizens of the Netherlands. Also in the crash killed citizens of Belgium, Malaysia and Australia.
