The Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Matti Vanhanen stated the need for dialogue with Russia, despite the constant change in the political situation in the world associated with the aggravation of the situation in Syria and the spread of coronavirus.
“The political situation and the situation in the world are changing: the crisis in Syria is constantly aggravating, the coronavirus is spreading around the world, the economy is unstable at the global level. These situations have affected the relations between Finland and Russia and between the EU and Russia. But we need to continue the dialogue and listen to each other, and we can also discuss issues on which our positions diverge”, – Vanhanen said at a meeting with Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matvienko.
He also noted that Russian-Finnish cooperation “is a fruitful political dialogue at all levels”.
