Moldavian opposition moves to the practical part of the coup

With the advent of spring, mass anti-government protests unfolded in Chisinau.

As News Front previously reported, representatives of the pro-Western Moldovan opposition have repeatedly stated their intention to get rid of the current president of the country, Igor Dodon. About this, having lost the prime minister’s chair, Maya Sandu spoke brazenly, promising to take people to the streets.

“We’ve already considered [the possibility of protests], we talked with people, we take part in the campaign, we are quite ready for protests”, – she said.

Chisinau mayor Andrei Nastase, who had decided to fight for the presidency in the upcoming elections, also threatened to eliminate Dodon.

The consequence of these statements was a major rally unfolding near the government building of Moldova. Military personnel involved in the Transnistrian conflict and allegedly dissatisfied with the course of the Moldovan leadership, which is not in the interests of the West, were involved in the protests.

According to local media, the protesters blocked the entrance to the building, and also managed to arrange a brawl with the police and break the glass door. Demonstrators demand the resignation of Igor Dodon, Prime Minister Ion Kiku and Foreign Minister Aureliu Chokoya. So, they are chanting the slogans: “Dodon is a traitor”, “Kiku and Chokoya to the dump”, “Down with the government” and “Down with the Dodon”.

It is noteworthy that the country’s authorities agreed to conduct a constructive dialogue with the demonstrators. In this regard, law enforcement officers provided the opportunity for unhindered access to the building for representatives of protesters to state specific requirements. No one was willing to negotiate. Instead, protesters began to demand that government representatives themselves go out to them.
