The epidemic is taking on a global dimension – new evidence of coronavirus spreading

The Coronavirus is mercilessly absorbing new nations. Countries are closing their borders, but the EU is having problems with this.

To date, 13 people have been recorded in the UK, struck by the new coronavirus. They’ve been placed in infectious disease units. But the situation is much worse on the European mainland. Thus, in Italy, the Covid-19 virus has already killed a third person – an elderly woman from the city of Creme.

At the same time, 150 infected people have been identified in the country. Thus, Italy is becoming the European epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic. The situation has provoked panic among the population. In the north of Italy, people are ravaging supermarkets. According to Euronews, due to the hype bordering on chaos, employees of one of the supermarkets have called the police. Food and basic necessities are also in greatest demand, according to Euronews. Masks, however, have become a real deficit.

Journalists of the Ukrainian edition “Strana” talked to Italian Matteo, who lives in the suburbs of Milan.

“The situation is uncertain. The number of infected people is growing with great speed now. I live where there are 110 cases of illness. Cities with large populations are being isolated. The supermarkets last night bought food: flour, meat, pasta and salt. There are no antiseptics, paracetamol or masks in pharmacies”, –  said the Italian.

It is important to note that the largest number of casualties was recorded in Milan and the northern regions of the country, which share borders with Switzerland and Austria. The situation is aggravated by the fact that there are practically no borders in the European Union. This factor could seriously accelerate the spread of the epidemic.

The Austrian leadership has already stopped railway communication with Italy. It is true that this measure has become temporary. The fact is that two passengers suspected of coronavirus were found on a train leaving Italy. As a result, the fears were not confirmed, and in the morning the train traffic resumed.

The situation in the Middle East is no less worrying. Here, Iran became the epicentre of the coronavirus’ spread. So far, the virus has been detected in 43 Iranians who are currently under treatment. At the same time eight people have already died, making Iran the second country in the world by the number of lethal outcomes due to the coronavirus appeared in China.

The authorities of the countries neighbouring Iran are already taking measures, closing the borders. This decision has been taken in Turkey, Armenia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Turkish authorities have also banned aircraft flying from Iran. Kuwait and Georgia have made the same decision.
