Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov gave details of a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at a security conference in Munich.
According to the Russian minister, the conversation focused on arms control issues.
“Issues related to the entire range of issues that are on the agenda of our strategic dialogue, including those that fall within the competence of the permanent five (UN P5), and those that relate to arms control issues, were touched upon, and we agreed to continue a concrete, professional conversation on them”, – Lavrov said after the conference.
The Russian Foreign Minister also reported some progress towards a more constructive approach by American partners.
Last summer the Agreement on medium- and shorter-range missiles was terminated. Washington announced its unilateral withdrawal from this agreement, accusing Russia of its longstanding violation. Moscow rejects all accusations. In July, Vladimir Putin signed a law suspending the INF Treaty.
