Washington is suffering from the consequences of misconceptions about Tehran, which could cause a catastrophe, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed.
After the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani by the Americans, the United States and Iran were very close to the outbreak of war. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, the NBC television company said on February 14.
“We were very close to the war, because the United States initiated an act of aggression against Iran and did it, I’m sorry, cowardly. They could not resist Soleimani on the battlefield, so they struck under cover of night by using a drone launched from a car, designed to fulfill the peace mission”, – Zarif said in an interview.
According to him, Iran reacted very carefully to the actions of the United States, striking a military base.
“We wanted to demonstrate to the United States that Iran cannot be ramped up and actions against Iran will have consequences. I believe that the US administration is suffering from the consequences of false perceptions and misinformation about Iran. I believe that this can cause a catastrophe”, – the minister stressed.
In early January, the United States conducted an operation near the airport of Baghdad, as a result of which the Iranian general Qassem Soleimani was killed.
In response to Washington’s actions, Tehran launched a missile attack on two bases in Iraq used by the US military.
