The German government from the beginning of 2020 approved the export of arms worth € 4.3 million to Egypt, Qatar, Turkey and the UAE, supporting the participants in the Libyan conflict.

The German authorities from January 1, 2020 approved new arms supplies to countries supporting the parties to the conflict in Libya. This follows from the response of the German government to the request of the deputy of the Bundestag from the Left Party Sevim Dagdelen. Information was reported by German news agencies on February 12. A significant part of the total amount of approved arms exports – over 4.2 million euros – falls on Qatar. The United Arab Emirates purchased weapons for 50,500 euros, Turkey – for 18,600 euros, and Egypt – for 4,620 euros.

The government is turning itself into a “completely dubious mediator,” with such arms transfers, says Dagdelen. The politician called for a complete cessation of arms exports to countries participating in the conflict in Libya.
