The Kremlin commented on the US statement on arms talks

Russia has long been offering the United States contacts on arms control discussions and will be satisfied if that happens, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the reporters.

Earlier, Assistant to the US President on national security Robert O’Brien announced the imminent start of negotiations with the Russian Federation on arms control. At present, the only arms limitation treaty between Moscow and Washington is START-3. Last year, the United States withdrew from the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles (INF Treaty).

“Russia has long been trying to initiate the beginning of such contacts. And Russia has long been offering American partners to do this, so if this happens, we will only be satisfied”, – Peskov said, answering the question at what level negotiations can take place between Russia and US arms control and how soon this can happen.

He also noted that there are no specifics on the timing and level of negotiations.
