Clashes in Iraq caused 11 deaths

At least 11 people died as a result of clashes in the town of Najaf in southern Iraq. Local media also reported 85 casualties, 70 of whom were hospitalized.

Clashes between demonstrators and supporters of Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr occurred in Al Sadrain Square.

Demonstrators in Iraq for the fifth month demanded the resignation of the government, fight corruption and unemployment, and improve living conditions. During that time, the protests have already claimed the lives of more than 600 people and affected around 50,000.
