The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad came under missile fire

Five missiles struck the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on Sunday night, Kurdistan 24 reported.

“Five rockets from the Katyusha-type launcher hit the “green zone”,  the channel quoted the Iraqi military as saying.

The green zone in Baghdad is home to several Western embassies and government agencies, including parliament, the prime minister’s office and the presidium.

The shelling has caused destruction, it said.

For his part, acting Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi issued a statement condemning the incident, calling it “aggression”.
