The heads of the EC and EU Council signed an agreement on UK’s withdrawal from the European Union

This allows ratification of the agreement in the European Parliament.

 

Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and EU Council President Charles Michel signed an agreement on UK’s withdrawal from the European Union, which opens the way for its ratification in the European Parliament. This was announced on Friday by the President of the European Commission on Twitter.

“Charles Michelle and I have just signed an agreement on UK’s withdrawal from the EU, which allows the European Parliament to ratify it”, –  the statement says. I

n turn, Michelle said in his Twitter that the European Union and the United Kingdom “are opening a new chapter as partners and allies.

On Thursday, the European Parliament’s Committee on Constitutional Affairs supported the agreement on UK’s withdrawal from the European Union (Brexit) at an emergency meeting. Voting on this agreement in the European Parliament itself will be held on January 29, after which the document will be formally approved by the EU Council.
