The Kremlin regards the conference on Libya in Berlin as positive, an important step towards a settlement has been taken, and now the work will continue under the auspices of the UN, said Russian President’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
“Positive assessment. A very important step has been taken towards the eventual settlement. Now the work, based on this first important step, will continue under the auspices of the UN”, – Peskov told reporters in response to a question about how the Kremlin assesses the results of the Berlin conference.
An international conference on Libya was held in the German capital on Sunday with the participation of Russia, the USA, Turkey, Egypt and other countries, as well as the EU and the UN. Both Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord Fayez Sarrage and Commander of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Haftar were at the summit, although direct talks between them again failed.
