Al-Shabab militants attacked the Kenyan-American naval base in Kenya on the morning of January 5. It is reported by Daily Nation.
According to the press service of the Kenyan Self-Defense Forces, the incident occurred at 5:30 am local time (the same as Moscow time) in Lamu County on the Indian Ocean coast. Four militants died as a result of the attack; there are no casualties from the American and Kenyan military.
According to the district commissioner Irung Macharia, the militants had heavy weapons. They tried to break into the runway, which adjoins the Simba camp – the Kenyan base, where the US military is also deployed.
