Trump confirmed that a trade agreement with China will be signed soon.

On Saturday, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that a trade agreement with China, which the parties have been negotiating for over a year, will be signed soon.

“We just made a breakthrough on the trade agreement and we will sign it soon”, –  Trump said during his speech in Florida.

He said the “tough measures” that the U.S. has taken on goods from China have helped make progress in the negotiations.

Earlier, U.S. Treasury Department head Stephen Mnuchin said that the first part of the trade agreement between the United States and China could be signed in early January. Prior to that, the countries managed to agree on the text of this first part, thus abolishing another increase in mutual import duties, expected on December 15.
