Boris Johnson announced his desire to establish relations with the Russian Federation

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson expressed hope for improved relations with Russia, although he acknowledged that there are difficulties in moving them forward. This was reported by “Gazeta.ru” with reference to the Estonian portal ERR.

According to Johnson, he expects to improve relations with Russia, like many other Western politicians, but “it is always so disappointing, because we have terrible problems (with Russia – ed.)”.

“I’m an optimist, but I’m faced with real problems, trying to move our relations forward”, – the Prime Minister said.

In this regard, Johnson recalled the Salisbury incident in the spring of 2018 and the problems in the dialogue between the Russian and British sides.

In March 2018, in the British Salisbury, according to the British authorities, ex-GRU officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Julia were poisoned. The incident provoked a major international scandal. In London, they said that Russia was involved in the incident and named the names of the alleged culprits – Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov.

The Russian side has repeatedly proposed a joint investigation of the incident, but Britain ignored this.
