At the annual press conference of Vladimir Putin, the Russian President was asked about the possibilities of Russia to maintain or strengthen dialogue with the United States until the end of Trump’s presidency as part of the impeachment of the House of Representatives, as well as potential actions of the Russian Federation to maintain strategic stability.
Answering a question posed, Putin emphasized that he doubts the end of the presidential term of the American leader. He noted that the removal of the incumbent president for “some far-fetched reasons” is nothing more than a continuation of the domestic political struggle.
“The Democratic Party, which lost the election, is achieving results in other ways, by other means, charging Trump with conspiracy with Russia. Then it turns out that there was no conspiracy. This cannot form the basis of impeachment. Now, they came up with some pressure on Ukraine issue”, – the President said.
Of course, current political situation will affect the level of interstate relations between Russia and the United States. Friendly acts towards Russia, according to Putin, are not observed.
“[The USA – ed.] want to help Ukraine maintain transit. If they would like to help, they would give money better. Why don’t they give money? <…> There is no real support. They want Ukraine to replenish its budget at the Russian expense. So give the money yourself and help! <…> “, – the President stated.
Putin further noted that Russia is interested in developing and maintaining relations with the United States and will do so regardless of who is in the White House and who controls both houses of the US Congress. There are prospects, according to the President, and one of them is the issue of global security.
