Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi expects to meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to discuss in detail the issue of a peace treaty and cooperation in the international arena.

Motegi also thanked Lavrov for his warm words and condolences on the death of a Japanese doctor and head of the Peshawar Society NGO Tetsu Nakamura in Afghanistan.
Nakamura, 73, died Dec. 4 from injuries sustained in an attack near the town of Jalalabad, Nangarhar province, in eastern Afghanistan. His car was ambushed by unknown assailants. During the attack, five local residents, an employee of his organization, a driver and three guards, were killed along with Nakamura.
