Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone discussed with German Chancellor Angela Merkel questions of ensuring energy security of the EU countries, the Kremlin’s press service reports.
“Issues related to cooperation in the gas industry, relevant to the energy security of the EU countries, were also touched upon, including in the context of the prospects for the transit of Russian natural gas through Ukraine after January 1, 2020 and the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 project”, – the statement said.
It is added that the parties agreed to maintain contacts at various levels.
